The SEC Championship Game begins at 4:00 PM this Saturday on CBS, and the winner is guaranteed entrance to the College Football Playoffs.
The Georgia Bulldogs are the last remaining undefeated Power 5 Conference team, and because they play in the SEC and will face the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Title Game, there is the chance that UGA could have already earned their top 4 seeding, win or lose.
That said the odds for the SEC Championship game offered up by bookmakers at online college football betting sites favor the Bulldogs to win by a touchdown, and if Georgia wins, Alabama will be relegated to a New Year’s Six Bowl Game this postseason.
It is hard to imagine a final four CFP bracket without Alabama present, as they’ve been a mainstay of the College Football Playoffs since their inception.
In a season where everyone except Georgia and the Cincinnati Bearcats has lost at least one game, it would seem that there would be some potential for a two-loss Alabama squad to make it as an at-large selection.
Despite the Crimson Tide’s underdog status for the SEC Championship Game on Saturday, CFP betting sites have them positioned as the second overall team in the odds to win the National Title this season.
2021-22 NCAAF Championship Odds To Win
- Georgia -220
- Alabama +650
- Michigan +750
- Cincinnati +1200
- Oklahoma State +1400
- Notre Dame +2500
The reason for their positioning near the top is that if Alabama can defeat Georgia and win the SEC, they’ll either remain second overall or move into the number one seed.
That means everything is on the line for the Crimson Tide this Saturday, and collective fans of NCAA College Football are anxious to see them ousted for CFP contention and assured of a new National Champion in 2021-22.
While Alabama has played relatively close games with Auburn and Arkansas in recent weeks, they still managed to win over SEC opponents that were at one time ranked much higher.
Plus, Alabama already has a loss on their resume, perhaps exorcising those demons well in advance of their matchup with the Bulldogs.
All speculation aside, what we do know is that no college football team has been able to hang with Georgia this season, and if the Bulldogs can cover the 7 point margin that is being offered up at the USA’s top football betting sites, a new National Champion in 2021-22 will be guaranteed.
The College Football Playoffs Selection Committee will release their final rankings this Sunday at noon, so lay some action on the above futures now before the odds narrow following the final four seeds becoming known to the public.
